Pamela’s Symptoms:

Pamela Before

Pamela's long heavy hair before

I am very, very tired of my current “hair situation.” My hair is long, heavy, frizzy, and beginning to gray.  Oh, did I mention dry?!  I have been trying numerous hair products that promise to make my hair nourished, moisturized, less frizzy, etc. My hair is NOT responding for whatever reason – whether it’s my hairstyle (or lack of) or products that over-promise. Mona cut and styled my hair last August, and I was very happy. Now, though, my hair has changed and I am ready to have healthy hair again. I want a low maintenance hairstyle that looks great with my face and yet works with my very busy life. I am a professional caregiver, as well as a wife and mother. I know Mona can create a hairstyle that fits my lifestyle.”

Pamela's new light do from the Curlyologist

These Lovely Curls stretched nearly the full length of her back! They were gorgeous, but all one length, very thick, and so heavy. These curls weren’t so much “curling” anymore as they were waving and then frizzing by the end of the day. Because she needed freedom of movement and a low maintenance cut, I used my trademark layered diamond cut. Once the weight was reduced, and the layers introduced, her hair sprang up and beautifully framed her face. She can still pull it up when life requires, and this style won’t require too many products to maintain.

Denver’s Situation:

Denver Before

Denver's long hair before the cut

I’ve always had long “Shirley Temple” curls. Over the last several months I had grown my hair out and I liked it, but it didn’t give me the change I had been looking for. I tried getting bangs but they always ended up incorporated into longer curls and no one ever saw them. So, I decided to get a more radical pixie cut. Having really short hair will allow me to have a different style and feel just a little more grown up without all the very traditional baby curls.

Denver's new edgy cut

Denver after the Curlyolgist worked her magic

Denver is lucky to have long Lovely Curls, and most of us would love to have such a gift. There was no hair-specific challenge here, but a bit of a challenge deciding how to cut those Lovely Curls short and keep their beauty. I saw two options: hair a bit longer than the shoulder, or a very short cut. These were the best options to keep her curl but avoid a boring, bowl-type cut. I went with an asymmetrical cut – short in the back and on one side, but leaving length in the front to give her a
modern, edgy, but professional cut to suit her age.

Meryl’s Symptoms:

Meryl Before

My hair has a mind of its own… It does what it wants, when it wants! Regardless of what I want, I get a flat top and bushy sides. My widow’s peak forces the hair in my eyes, which drives me crazy!!! So here I am, Mona, please fix it.

Meryl falls into the Mellow Curl category. This means the hair is fine and the curls are not strong enough to stand alone. They need a cut that gives support to allow fullness where she needs it, on the top!

Curly Hair Has Too Much Personality!
avatar

We might be lucky to be born with curly hair, but we must have a great sense of humor.  We go through changes every day and don’t know what to expect.  I can say one thing:  straight hair might take longer to style, but is not as costly as curly hair!  Curly hair is much easier, but will take at least three different types of products, if not more, to keep the curls behaving.
